Education is a gift that too many take for granted, but the children of the Zambezi River Valley in Zambia certainly don't. Here, education is a privilege that not everyone receives. The youngest children of the valley have never before had access to a formal education and in turn have had to be brought to work with their parents (many of whom are single mothers) or watched by relatives. Thanks to the tireless efforts of the Banda sisters, Angelina, Adelina, and Jenny, all of whom are single mothers themselves, Taonga Preschool and Daycare began to take form on the Livingstone Fruit Farm in early 2015.
A school building was build in 2016, and every day, the bright young students rush to class, where they learn English, study the world around them, and, of course, play games and sing and dance. This amazing opportunity of education for these children is truly something to be grateful for. Taonga is constantly growing and improving, and we are excited to announce that we are going to be opening a kindergarten later this year!
Taonga currently provides an early education for over 20 children aged 1-6, setting them up for a life of opportunities to reach their full potential and become educated members of the global community.
We appreciate anything and all that you can do to help us bring an education to these young children!
